Fast Toothache Relief for our Norman Patients

What to do during a dental emergency?

Keep calm and call your dentist! Even over the phone, we can assess the situation and recommend next steps. If you have a cracked or lost tooth, collect the tooth and keep it moist in milk. For swelling due to trauma, you may try an ice pack and over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicine to bridge the time until you can get to the dentist. If you’re not experiencing oral pain but still have a dental issue, such as a cracked tooth, broken dentures, or a lost filling, please don’t hesitate to call us! Research shows periodontal problems can elevate the risk for other health issues, including diabetes, stroke, and cardiovascular disease. Coronavirus and dental careFor our latest update for patients regarding the COVID-19 situation and what we do to keep you and our team safe and healthy, click here. With proper measures in place, there is no need to be worried about going to see the dentist. In fact, seeing the dentist will lower the burden of dental emergencies on hospital emergency departments. This measure is also further intended to reduce the risk of patient exposure to COVID-19.

Moreover, we have a screening program in place and have stepped up our already high standard Infection control procedures to prevent the spread of disease. We care about your safety and work hard to avoid spreading infection. Before you enter the examining room, all surfaces, such as the dental chair, dental light, drawer handles, and countertops, have been cleaned and disinfected. Offices may cover some equipment with protective covers, which are replaced after each patient.

Non-disposable items like dental tools are cleaned and sterilized between patients. Disposable dental tools and needles are never reused. Infection control precautions also require all dental staff involved in patient care to use appropriate protective equipment such as gloves, masks, gowns, and eyewear when needed. After each patient, disposable gloves and masks are thrown away. Before seeing the next patient, everyone on the treatment team washes their hands and put on a new pair of gloves.
