The Role

As an Entry-Level Dental Assistant, you will be an essential part of our clinical team — helping us deliver excellent care. This is a hybrid clinical and administrative position. You will assist to Dr. Wheatley chairside, ensuring patients feel safe and cared for from the moment they enter the operatory, as well as perform administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chairside Assisting: Assist Dr. Wheatley during a variety of procedures (general, surgical, and preventive).
  • Charting: Recording patient information and updating charts
  • Patient Comfort: Guide patients through their visit, addressing anxiety and explaining procedures with transparency and kindness. 
  • Sterilization & Safety: Maintain rigorous infection control, prepare/break down treatment rooms, and manage instrument sterilization.
  • Radiography: Take high-quality digital X-rays and intraoral scans.
  • Office Support: Assist the front desk with patient check-ins, charting, and scheduling as needed to ensure a smooth flow.

Qualifications

  • License: Active Oklahoma Dental Assistant Permit (or proof of pending application).
  • Certifications: Radiation Safety and CPR certification (preferred; we can assist the right candidate in obtaining these).
  • Interpersonal skills: Personable, professional, and enjoys interacting with patients
  • Communication skills: Communicates clearly and works well in a team environment
  • Reliability: Dependable, eager to learn, and willing to grow
  • Skills: Strong communication skills and basic computer literacy.
  • Experience with Dentrix or similar software is a plus, but not required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

We offer a competitive pay range, designed to be at or above local market rates — with room to grow as you gain skills and certifications. Based on current norms in the Norman/OK area, entry-level assistants typically earn around $15–$18 per hour, depending on experience and certs
